We are sorry to report the sad news of three deaths of people who were so connected to Mutemwa.
Heather Benoy died on Christmas Day 2021. She was a devoted and loyal friend to John Bradburne and they spent almost every day together putting the world to rights and playing music. In fact it was Heather who first introduced him to the leprosy settlement in the 1960’s. Rest in Peace Heather, you will always be remembered.
Arthur Da Silva Azvedo passed away in April. Arthur was a gifted sculptor living in Harare who was commissioned to create the Stations of the Cross at Mutemwa on Chigona Mountain. Arthur’s faith and creativity will live on through his work.
It is with great sadness that we share the news that Ronica a long standing patient living at Mutemwa Leprosy Care Centre, lost her fight against cancer. She was a much loved member of the community who always had a happy joyful demeanor. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
